Running Accomplishments:

I have run 5K throughout my life.  I just ran the Colder Boulder in 25:33 which is a PR for me.

I ran two half marathons this past summer and my fastest time was around 2:09:? (My chip had issues and I was given a gun time but not a chip time, but I know I finished under 2:10:00)

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to run a marathon during the summer of 2010.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for fitness and fun.  I would like to improve my pace to comfortably average 30 seconds faster then I run now.

Personal:

I am married and have three children.  I enjoy friends, piano, singing, crafting, and organizing/cleaning my home.

I went to the gym and worked out on the elliptical today.  My foot is still hurting so I thought it would be best to do something with less impact.

I did some research and I think what I have is called turf toe.  It is most common with football and soccer players but the description sounds exactly like what I am experiencing.  It is basically a stretched ligament from bending the toe back too far, or a really bad stubbed toe.  I have been icing and taping a bit and I can tell it is feeling a bit better.  Hopefully it heals quickly.  I have no idea what happened, I can't remember any specific time of hurting my toe or foot.  Mysterious injuries are really annoying!

I hate those pesky problems that you really can't think of what caused them. I'm glad that you have a tentative diagnosis (and treatment it sounds like) for your pain.

Glad you have a lower impact alternative. You'll be back in the running game in no time!

It sounds like you're on the right path to getting this foot thing taken care of. This is a good week for you to back off running anyway.

Good luck getting that toe healed! Sounds like NO fun!! Nice job getting up and out and getting SOMETHING done.

Strange injuries stink. I hope yours heals early.

Great job getting on the elliptical..it's a good recovery activity from your race & nice way to let your toe heal.
